I'm a Minion!

I just got the COOLEST button in the mail. And I'm proud to announce that I am officially one of Heather Brewer's minions!

For those who don't know, Heather's debut novel, EIGHTH GRADE BITES, will be published by Dutton in spring of 2007. To find out more about Heather, the minions, and why EGB is getting such fabulous early buzz (including blurbs from people including Chris Moore, swoon!), check out Heather's blog, Bleeding Ink.

EDIT: Make that "summer of 2007" -- EGB will be the perfect beach read. You, your sunblock, a nice virgin bloody Mary...

Further EDIT: Lookit! I finally uploaded the picture! Call me Minion Jax. (And yes, that is an Endless poster behind me. Signed by my god of writing, Neil Gaiman. Glad you asked.)

Welcome to the Minion Horde (officially), Jax! Thank you so much for mentioning the Horde--and for being a part of it!

Just a quick note, though--EGB will debut Summer 2007, not Spring (but at this point, anything can happen and it may well end up debuting in Spring). :)

Oops! I'll change the post above to reflect that it's summer, not spring...

Yay, Horde! Go, Horde!

Huh. You know, we really need our own tee shirts...

Awesome!

I'm waiting for mine to come. Then I can show my true colors... as a member of the Minion Horde.

Next thig we need is Vlad-packs... backpacks with fangs :D You could even stitch a message on there... 'Vlad to meet you'

OK, I'll stop.

Hee! What I can't wait for is all the super delicious HELL'S BELLES swag!!!

At 3:12 PM, Blogger Ewoh Nairb said...

I'm imagining bells in the shape of devil's heads, enameled in bright red...

At 3:15 PM, Blogger Jackie said...

Hi, Ewoh! :-*

Heh, love the bell idea. I've been leaning toward some other thoughts regarding HB swag. Once I have my Hell in a Hand Basket finalized, I'll post about it.

((Jackie breaks into song))

I'm a Minion, he's a Minion, wouldn't you like to be a Minion too! Be a Minion, join the Minion Horde...

:) That song in now in my head...

What about a silhouette in the shape of a female devil (horns, tail, etc) dancing around a pole? You could put that on just about anything.

I am sooooo looking forward to reading your book, right there next to Heather's.

At 3:38 PM, Blogger Jackie said...

I officially love you, Ewoh. :-* AND I love the silhouette idea. ((Jackie scribbles notes)) Thanks!

Awww... thanks Jackie. I 'officially' love you right back :-*

The silhouette and bell ideas just popped into my head :) I'm glad you like them. Sometimes what sounds brilliant in my head... well, just doesn't quite translate nicely to the real world :D

We are soooo going to "get our minion on" when we're at Backspace, taking pictures with Heather,

Oh, and I am so happy to hear you are a big fan of NG. He is absolutely one of my all time favorite writers.

The Backspace Conference is going to totally kick ass. And yep, I love Neil. ((happy sigh)) Back in college, I came across SANDMAN No. 23. From there I was hooked -- had to get all the back issues, had to read pretty much everything he'd ever written. A god, I'm telling you. The man is like a god.

I started off with Good Omens, just after it came out. Then I pretty much stopped reading any SF/F until about the time that American Gods was published. Now I'm reading evarything of his that I can get my hands on. Neverwhere really touched me, but I think American Gods is just brilliant. The first time I read it, I finished the last page of it and immediately started back at the beginning. I've never done that with any book before.

Now I'm going to have to start with the Sandman series :)

At 5:05 PM, Blogger Jackie said...

OMG, you must, must, MUST read the entire SANDMAN series! Right! Now!

At 5:13 PM, Blogger Ewoh Nairb said...

OK! I'll get and read them... but I really need to do edits on my WIPs. Can I wait until after the conference? Please? :D

At 5:17 PM, Blogger Jackie said...

((sigh)) Excuses, excuses...

Kidding! You have an official reprieve until the end of July! :-)

At 5:38 PM, Blogger Ewoh Nairb said...

Well, thank you very much :D It feels good to be official.

Heather has her minions. What are your's called?

At 6:28 PM, Blogger Jackie said...

Hellions, of course. ;-)

(I just thought of that.)

At 6:44 PM, Blogger Ewoh Nairb said...

OOOOHHHHH!!!!!

Can I be a hellion? Please?

... wait, that's not how a hellion should sound...

*growls* I'm a Hellion dammit!

ROFL :D

At 7:32 PM, Blogger Jackie said...

Ewoh, damn straight you're a Hellion! :-*

Let's see. Heather has the FABOO buttons. What should I give to my Hellions? Hmmm. ((Jackie ponders))

At 7:48 PM, Blogger Ewoh Nairb said...

pitchfork pins?

the silhouette as a charm?

stickers?

you could do an mp3 recording of dance music (from the book) with a voice over of your MC saying some memorable lines... put it on a businesscard sized CDR... maybe even silkscreen the title and your web page URL on it as well.

just a few ideas ;)

At 8:59 PM, Blogger Jackie said...

Have I said before that I love you?

At 11:53 PM, Blogger Ewoh Nairb said...

I think you mentioned it :D

I found a cool little trinket listed on boing boing... it's a 'thong' for your cell phone:
http://www.discount-leather.net/Ladies/Phone/

I thought you could do them up with a logo or something from the book. Just a thought. Since I really don't know what you have or are puting together for promo materials I just thought I would mention ideas as they popped into my head.

Alright, back to editing for me :)
